Flu and COVID-19 Vaccinations 2023

We are currently receiving many queries regarding this years flu vaccination. The first batch of vaccinations have now been ordered and we anticipate that the first delivery will be early October 2023 (next month).



Those eligible for vaccination through Gesy include the following adult groups:

  • People aged 60 years and over


  • people aged over 15 years with the following medical conditions:

    • Chronic lung disease including asthma and COPD

    • Chronic heart disease

    • Immunosuppression caused by a disease or medications to treat autoimmune disorders

    • History of organ transplantation

    • Sickle cell disease and thalassaemia

    • Diabetes and other chronic metabolic disorders

    • Chronic kidney disease

    • Chronic neurological disease

    • Obesity with a body mass index (BMI) measuring over 40


  • Pregnant and lactating women


  • Public health reasons for flu vaccination include:

    • People who are in close contact with children under the age of 6 months or who care for people who belong to the high risk groups

    • Employees in health services, both clinical and administrative

    • People living in closed residential communities/housing

    • Veterinary surgeons , animal farmers and butchers

Those who are eligible for the flu vaccination through Gesy can contact the surgery recaption. As soon as we have delivery of the vaccinations we will be informing those people to come in for the vaccination.


The COVID-19 booster

will only be available from the vaccination centre at the general hospitals. The flu vaccination can also be given at the same time by the vaccination centres.
